eico wada

She calls herself a “delicious artist.”
Having studied abroad in New York, she has developed works that incorporate Japanese tastes such as ukiyo-e, family crests, and hanafuda cards.

Her works are characterized by the vivid colors of acrylic gouache, with motifs of women, flowers, and plants.
She began her artistic career in 1996, and has exhibited at group exhibitions and art fairs every year.
Her first solo exhibition was in Ginza in 2002, and in New York in 2004.
She has participated in numerous planned and group exhibitions both in Japan and overseas.

In her series of works based on the motif of “hanafuda,” a type of Japanese karuta card,
she treats the flowers, birds, wind, and moon depicted on the cards as design, creating story-like works with themes of social satire, female psychology, and eroticism.
One of the works in the “hanafuda” series has also been used on the label of Tensei Shuzo’s shochu “Oiran.”

Especially in recent years, she wants people to casually enjoy one-of-a-kind art as interior decor.
With this in mind, he creates works based on the concept of “living art.”
It has the double meaning of “art that can be displayed in the living room as casually as seasonal flowers” and “living with art.”
